Gosh- it's been forever since I've blogged. Oh well. I've been incredibly busy with work, school, family etc... I was thinking about the old saying " a picture is worth a thousand words" Of course, I get what that means but most of the time I glance at a photograph and briefly reminisce on that moment and then I put the picture down and those thoughts leave me. I ran across a picture of Mak when she was literally a few minutes old. It was in the back of a frame and another picture was sitting on top of it. It's Michael's first moments with her. I was still on the OR table and he's got her hand and the look on his face is beyond priceless. I can't even describe the amount of love he has for that little girl and this picture literally stopped me in my tracks. Sometimes you forget what that moment felt like. This picture captures every essence of that day. Makenna is so independent now. She is no longer a baby, no longer even a toddler. She is a kid. That is so scary to me.
This year I will have a four year old. This time has flown by so fast I just want to slow down and enjoy these moments with her.
I almost had a complete breakdown the other day over sippy cups. I was going through the cabinets making space for cups and realized that I had at least 10-15 sippy cups that she hasn't used in over a year. So I threw them in the garbage. I then realized that there will never be another sippy cup in my cabinet. My baby is no longer a baby! It's bitter sweet. We get to move on to new things but change is not something that I adapt to well. She will start school this year and soccer and she is entered in her first beauty pageant.
I am so grateful for Michael. Even if I don't act like it 99% of the time. He really is a great man and although he does things that annoy the crap out of me- he has the biggest heart and would do and has done everything he can for me. I'm very lucky. Makenna has a great Daddy and I'm so incredibly happy he decided to stick around :)
